Our First Visitors

Alright family and friends, may I introduce - the guest bedroom. It is finally unpacked and ready for you.
We actually just had our very first visitors - Matt's parents stopped by to see us on their way home from a trip to Germany. They flew in on the Fourth of July, so we spent the afternoon at the beach in Southwold, then had a BBQ at home and went on the American base to watch the fireworks.

This picture was taken in Southwold, where the kids were using Grandpa Tom as a slide. On monday Matt and I took advantage of our willing babysitters and spent the day in London. We took the tube downtown and started with a walk down Portobello Road (I think Trisa and my sisters are the only ones that remember the movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks and could truly appreciate how excited I was to be there). It poured rain as we walked through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park and we had to share my umbrella. In the evening (why is this underlining?) we saw Les Miserables at Queen's Theatre. This is a shot of Piccadilly Circus - very bright and busy. On Tuesday (why can't I get it to stop underlining!) we did some sightseeing with Matt's parents. We went to Stonehenge, Avebury, and drove home through the Cotswolds. It was VERY windy at Stonehenge.

This is Arlington row in the town of Bibury in the Cotswold Hills. It was so pretty I would have to call it enchanting.
At the unnatural hour of 3:30am this morning Matt drove his parents to the airport. Amy is flying to Utah with them to hang out with her cousins. She will be away for almost two weeks. Matt is going to Utah in a week for his brother's wedding (I will be here pouting) and will bring Amy home with him. I found this sign on Amy's bedroom door:

Here's the weirdest thing about their visit: while they were there the kitchen magically cleaned itself after every meal and the dishwasher filled itself. Also, the weeds in our front and back yard pulled themselves, the laundry was cleaned, dried, and folded and the lawn mowed itself. This morning after breakfast the dishes stubbornly remained on the counter. I don't know what is going on.

Don't expect that kind of treatment when we visit!
Just kidding...I can't wait to come!

I love the colors of the guest bedroom and I want to walk up the enchanting street when I'm there. I bet your kids were excited to see familiar faces.

We just caught up on your blog. You've already been to so many amazing places. Your house is amazing, too. Even if the appliances are small, the house is great!

I, like Trisa, can't get "Portabello road" out of my head. Shoot, and I only remember those two words and the tune. That is a really fun movie.

Looks like you guys continue to have a wonderful time out there. We are so happy for you guys. It is beautiful out there.

you guys have the greatest blog. I love all the curly hair and castles. It seems "anything and everything a chap can uphold" can be found by the Holmans. (note: reference to Portabello road he he)
